Top three things to see and do in Tulum, Mexico

1. Visit the cenotes or even better snorkel and/or dive in them. Some you can see turtles and fish, and in Dos Ojos you can dive the caverns between the two ‘eyes’ or openings…

Cenotes closest to Tulum:

  • Cenote cristal, cenote Escondido (cycle out on the road past the town to Chetumal). (Cost is 120 pesos for both cenotes)
  • Carwash cenote, Grand cenote (take a collectivo towards Coba and ask to get out at your chosen cenote).
  • Dos Ojos (if diving your dive centre will take you, otherwise take a taxi or collectivo towards Playa del Carmen and ask to get out at Dos Ojos). Diving is expensive at over 100 dollars but in my opinion worth it as totally unique to dive in the fresh waters through the underground caves.

    2. Visit Tulum ruins to see Tulum through Mayan eyes. Make sure you go early to avoid the crowds.

    3. Hire a bike and explore the beaches of Tulum…be aware that prices may be steep so check menu prices if buying food or drink here. Even better take your own picnic!
